MyHeating Designer is a native Mac app for hydronic underfloor heating. You work on a scaled 2D plan — no 3D BIM and no cloud account. All data stays local on your Mac. The steps below match the real app workflow; displayed values are planning estimates, not a substitute for a certified norm calculation or manufacturer data.
1. Create a new project
Start a new project and import a floor plan as PDF, PNG, or JPG, or begin on a blank sheet. For imported plans, the next step is critical: the scale.
2. Set the scale
Mark a known distance on the plan (e.g. a wall length from the building drawing) and enter the real length. Only with a correct scale are pipe lengths, room areas, and heat loss estimates meaningful — the app calculates in metres, not pixels.
3. Walls, rooms, and building envelope
Draw walls and close rooms. Per room you can define floor, wall, and ceiling build-ups (U-values, layers) and set target temperatures. That feeds the heat loss estimate via simplified transmission and ventilation models.
4. Heating zones and blocked areas
Define heating zones — areas that will later share a circuit. Mark blocked areas (e.g. kitchen island, bathtub) where no heating pipes should run. That keeps the layout realistic.
5. Place the manifold and draw circuits
Place the manifold at the planned location. Draw heating circuits manually in the zones — supply and return, pipe spacing, connections at the manifold. The app calculates pipe lengths (heated, connection, vertical, total) and shows hydraulic planning hints. There is no automatic spiral generation as the main path; you keep control over every circuit.
6. Heat source, heat loss, and hydraulics overview
Set the heat source (e.g. heat pump, condensing boiler). The overview shows heat loss vs. output, volume flows as planning guideline values, and a compact hydraulic hint (Darcy-Weisbach as an estimate, not full system design). Check whether each zone has enough output for the estimated demand.
7. Export: PDF report and heatmap
Export a PDF project report and optionally a UFH heatmap as PDF. Typical deliverables:
- Pipe lengths per circuit (heated, connection, vertical, total)
- Volume flows and pipe spacing as planning guideline values
- Heat loss overview and output vs. demand comparison
- Heatmap PDF for layout visualisation
- Full report including formulas, inputs, and disclaimer
The report works as your own reference or as a basis for discussion with an installer — not as the sole ordering document without professional review.
